Psoriasis Awareness Week 2017

Ran from Sunday 29th October to Sunday 5th November.

Psoriasis Awareness Week runs annually and aims to raise awareness of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

This year, in conjunction with the See Psoriasis: Look Deeper collaboration, we launched the 'Small Steps' campaign - a practical guide to living well with psoriasis. The campaign looks at the small, positive changes you can make to your lifestyle that might make a difference to your psoriasis. Take a look at the 'Small Steps' video animation and Top Tips Cards, based on the real experiences of people living with psoriasis.

Additionally, we also encouraged you to take our short survey to help us identify the 'Top 10' priorities in psoriasis research. This is a unique chance to have your say and influence future research. The survey is still open so please do take part and spread the word!

Finally, you can catch up on the stories and activity from Psoriasis Awareness Week below.

'Small Steps' Campaign

Small Steps logoHave you ever wondered what small, positive changes to your lifestyle might make a difference to your psoriasis?

The 'Small Steps' campaign provides a practical guide to living well with psoriasis, brought to you by the See Psoriasis: Look Deeper collaboration. The guide features top tips provided by people who are living with psoriasis - maybe some of them might be worth a try for you too?

You can check out these lifestyle tips by watching the 'Small Steps' video animation, and by taking a look at the Top Tips Cards

'Psoriasis Top 10' Survey

The Psoriasis Association is seeking more responses to our short 'Psoriasis Top 10' survey.

This is a unique chance for you to submit the questions about psoriasis that you’d most like researchers to focus on answering.

The responses will be gathered and a Top 10 list of questions compiled. This Top 10 list will then help to direct future research into psoriasis.

The survey only takes a couple of minutes to complete and, whether you have psoriasis yourself, are a parent of a child with psoriasis, or have a friend or family member with the condition, we want to hear from you!

On the Radio...

  • Following Psoriasis Awareness Week, our Chief Executive, Helen McAteer, spoke to Stuart Linnell on BBC Radio Northampton about psoriasis. You can listen here (feature starts at 02:39:15).
  • Information Stands

A BIG 'thank you' to the team at Guy's Hospital in London for setting up this fantastic information stand to mark World Psoriasis Day and Psoriasis Awareness Week!

The stand included awareness posters and information leaflets from the Psoriasis Association, as well as materials to promote the APRICOT and PLUM pustular psoriasis studies.

These studies are being coordinated by the team from St John's Institute of Dermatology, which is based at Guy's Hospital.

Thanks also to the team at the Belfast Trust, who set up this colourful information stand outside Wing D of the Outpatients Department at Belfast City Hospital.

Once again, awareness posters and information leaflets from the Psoriasis Association were on display!

These information stands are invaluable in helping to raise awareness of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, as well as providing information and the chance for people to stop, chat and ask questions.
