Need help

Posted by ChrissyG on 16th May 2012 07:05AM

Hi I am fairly new to this as my Pso has getting worse over the course of a year. It started off as tiny patches on my face & has now spread to & covered my scalp, ears, arms & legs. I was givin' Dovobet which seemed to work for a short while but after my last visit to the Dermo they have givin' me 10 weeks UV treatment but givin' me no creams or ointments to help in the meantime as I have to wait 6 weeks for it to start. I would much obliged to ANY help anyone can give me as to anything I can use. Thanks

Get on to your GP or specialist and let them know you need interim treatment. If you have tried this then you need to keep pestering them.
    Hope your UV goes well

Does you GP give any reason for not prescribing ointments etc?

As I am new to this I don't know if your skin has to be clear of treatments prior to the UV.

Personally I have found the Snake oil bar from Lush very good for my scalp and use this instead of prescribed ointments.

Hope thing start getting better for you soon

Hi I've had uv before i was never allowed to have any cream on before i went for uv but could put cream on afterwards. If your skin isnt that bad ask for some diprobase to keep you moistured. Your gp should give you someting. Dovobet its always the best sonetimes can lead to a flare up. Try dovonex.
I know its not right but if your gp doest give you anything mist creans you csn buy over the counter and sometimes are cheaper than prescriptions

I know how devastating this is as a sufferer for 40yrs. It has just been the last few years I have had a lot on my face. I have stopped using soap and use Nivea cleansing wipes for dry and sensitive skin. I also use Nivea cream (in the round blue tin) at bed time as it is fairly greasey and does not clog my skin the same way as emulsifying ointment. Through the day I use Oil of Olay and try not to use make up or try hypoalergenic ones. i have actually started using a sun bed for 6mins a week and this is helping. Hope this has been of some help.
