Hello.
I was supposed to be having a total hip replacement yesterday! I was seconds away from theatre and it was cancelled due to my psoriasis. It was guttate but seems to have formed into plaque. Spoke to an on call dermatologist and they gave me dovobet. Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of this asap? As I am absolutely crippled with pain in my hip, on crutches and unable to work due to it! Would take any sort of advice right now. I’m absolutely gutted! Thanks :)
I’m sorry to here this Robyn
Dovobet didn’t help me, other creams and tablets didn’t work
The only thing that’s worked for me and I was clear of Guttate psoriasis in 3 weeks was biologics Cosentyx injections
But you may respond better with what your dermatologist is offering, 🤞🏼
If you’re not getting the results you need for your operation to go ahead
Push hard for the biologics, it’s all down to costing 👎🏼
You can’t stay in such pain, when there is something out there to put you right
Very best wishes and I hope you get your operation soon

it seems really harsh to cancel your surgery because of your psoriasis. I can't see any logic in it. Psoriasis is chronic and common.

Late response here. I'm from the U.S. and need total hip replacement, but mine was cancelled and delayed due to my psoriasis ( guttate also) and right on the site where they would make the incision.
I'm told the psoriasis makes me more susceptible to infection, even sepsis which is deadly. That's why mine has been put off. I'm 54 and my hip is bone on bone. Very disabling.
I had to find a dermatologist on my own and he put me on the injection Ilumya. Started it March, and although not completely gone, I can see a huge difference.
Hoping to get recheck from my doc and get my new hip.

I am in UK and I had a total hip replacement 5 years ago. I have psoriasis, 45 years ago it was over my entire body, but over the years became limited to my elbows, groin and a patch on one shin. The patch in my groin was a concern for the hospital and I had an initial pre-op exam, and another a couple of days before the surgery - they gave a green light to go ahead. But it was made clear to me that if the groin was at its worse the surgery might not go ahead.
6-8 weeks or so after the hip replacement I suddenly developed guttate psoriasis - possibly a reaction to the physical trauma of the surgery.
It began to recede after about 6 months and it cleared finally around 8 months after the first appearance.
