Communications and Engagement Lead
Hours: 37 hours per week (full-time)

Salary: SCP 23 - £33,366 (37 hrs/week, full-time
Location: Hybrid (3 days per week at Head Office, Northampton) – with Thursday designated as an in-office collaboration day

About the Role
As our Communications and Engagement Lead, you will shape and deliver creative, impactful communications that strengthen our profile, engage diverse audiences, and represent the patient voice at national level. You will lead flagship campaigns such as Psoriasis Awareness Week, oversee integrated communications across all channels, manage media relations, and represent the charity in external forums. You’ll collaborate closely with our Digital Communications Officer and Deputy CEO, combining creativity with strategic focus to deliver measurable impact.
This is a varied, hands-on role that blends content creation, campaign leadership, digital strategy, stakeholder engagement and advocacy. Occasional travel within the UK is required.
What You’ll Do
· Lead strategic communications and campaigns – from planning to delivery, ensuring our messaging is consistent, inclusive and audience-focused
· Produce compelling content across social media, websites, email, and print, working closely with the Digital Communications Officer
· Oversee media relations – build relationships with journalists, maintain a case study database, act as a spokesperson and secure positive coverage
· Manage digital platforms – maintain and update our two bespoke websites (training provided), monitor performance with GA4, and run paid ads to maximise reach
· Represent the charity at conferences, sector meetings, and advocacy opportunities, building strong stakeholder relationships
· Support patient engagement – contribute to research consultations, health technology appraisals, and policy work by gathering patient insights
· Contribute to events and publications - including our Annual Conference and quarterly Pso magazine
· Oversee helpline coverage to ensure it is appropriately staffed at all times, providing direct support when needed, delivering empathetic, informed responses, and feeding patient insights into communications and content planning
What You’ll Bring
· Proven experience in communications, media, or stakeholder engagement (health / charity sector an advantage)
· Creative storytelling and strong copywriting skills across multiple platforms
· Confidence in engaging with media and representing an organisation publicly (training / support provided)
· Strong organisational and project management skills
· Digital literacy, including Google Analytics (GA4) and campaign management
· A collaborative, proactive approach aligned with our values of empathy, integrity, collaboration, excellence, and anti-stigma

· Annual Leave: 34 days (including bank holidays), rising to 39 days after five years’ service
