Posted Fri 4 Jul 2025 13.59 by Malcolm Hi, I am Malcolm a 78 year old male who has had P for several months and it just seems to get worse daily.
I am looking for tips on which applicator works when applying creams/lotions for the back.
I am currently using Enstilar foam which I put on my shoulders etc., but it will not stick to
a sponge applicator and I end up with Enstilar in all the right places but cannot find anything
that is suitable for my upper back area.
I live alone so have no one to do it for me.
I cannot be the only one with this problem so any ideas would be helpful.
thanks.

There are loads for sale on Amazon UK for around £10. Search Google for "lotion applicator for back long handle" and that should turn up a few good options. They're basically a "sponge on a stick" and work well.

I’ve had a similar problem with applying foam on the back. The sponge ones soak it up too much. You might want to try a silicone or rubber applicator instead, they don’t absorb the foam like sponges do. I’ve also seen people use cling film over a back scratcher or similar tool to help spread it.
