Guttate Psoriasis Strep Throat

Hi I often experienced a head to toe flare up of guttate psoriasis after tonsillitis. I had my tonsils taken out 6 years ago and haven't suffered since. This weekend I have felt like I have tonsillitis. Looking in my throat I can see white patches where my tonsils would have been. I am now worried its strep throat and that my guttate psoriasis will return. Just wondering if anyone else has had their tonsils out but still had strep throat and a flare up? Thanks

Hi I haven't had my tonsils out but started to get guttate psoriasis out of the blue maybe end of march. I didnt know the difference between guttate and plaque psoriasis until I researched it. Anyway its sooo difficult to treat, its everywhere now spreading like crazy and wont budge. How did you manage it? And sorry I cant answer your question but hopefully if you had your tonsils out and you have been fine then try not worry about what may happen because it sounds unlikely. Would be worth getting the white things looked at tho im sure. Steph

Hi Steph Thanks for replying. When I have had outbreaks before I have managed to get an appointment with a consultant quite quickly and they have referred me for phototherapy. They are like sunbeds but you only go on for seconds at a time 3 days a week. It's always cleared it within about 3 months of it. As it was so long ago though I'm not sure if I would be the way hospitals are at the moment. Have you seen a specialist at all? Are you using cream for it? Sian

Hi, thanks also for your reply. My GP did refer me to the hospital but they said it wont be for many months. I have tried EVERYTHING. I,ve had plaque p for many years ,a patch on either elbow and both legs below the knee but managed it well . In march this year ( actually since my 2nd covid vaccine) coincidence I know probably) this new guttate p has gradually just appeared everyday, hands ,arms thighs ,its impossible to manage and very depressing. I purchased a small phillips uvb unit but Its hard to cover all the area I need. Im going to try again though as it was £800! I used it a few times and got fed up. At the moment im just using doublebase moisterizer see how I go. Im really fed up with all the other lotions and potions for now. I really wish you well and try not to worry Im sure yours will stay away just keep positive. Steph

Ah I know it's so depressing. I have lots of little spots of it coming now so I think it's on its way. Like you I have plaque on my elbows and knees but can manage it. I hope you get somewhere with yours soon. Definitely keep trying the uvb unit as those beds in the hospital are the only things that have ever worked for me. Thanks Steph take care x
