Hi William Acitretin is usually the first oral medication tried but has many side effects. Everyone reacts differently to medication but the best thing to do is follow your dermatologist advice. Good luck

A P sufferer for over 30 years, through good and bad times.

I agree with Moggy on Acitretin. Depending how severe your P is will be a factor on what is offered. Acitretin as stated, hasmany possible visible an non visible side effects but not an immunosuppresent. Whereas methotrexate taken weekly and cyclosporine taken daily are both immunosuppresent they have other benefits from my experience compared to Acitretin. Whichever med you go with you will need regular blood tests. Goodluck.
