Psoriasiform eczema

Hi, my son was diagnosed with Psoriasiform eczema when he was 11. He has only ever had 2 flare ups which was when 11 and now (started when 18, and it’s about 6 months in). I wondered if anyone has heard of Psoriasiform eczema & has any suggestions. It’s like a combination of the both, much of what I can research only gives advice for either eczema or psoriasis. I suspect that stress was the major trigger for both flare ups. Thanks

I have been diagnosed with Eczemic Psoriasis. I don’t know of anyone on this site having been diagnosed with it. Like you I have researched it with no joy. You may be right about stress.I have had a recent flare up after a few stressful months. What treatment is he getting.?

At present just the moisturiser cream & enstillar spray for the flare up patches(might not be describing this well!). Flare up lasted since summer. I have thought wearing synthetic clothes probably doesn’t help either- I have suggested wearing cotton which I think is advised for psoriasis. I have noticed that the patches don’t appear to itch- I have never seen him scratch them. There’s lots of smaller patches over trunk & some on legs.

Hi Annaz Is he seeing a consultant? He may need to go on medication. I was on Cylosporin and now on Methotrexate. I was in a terrible state. The medication has given me my life back. After being referred to my local hospitals dermatology department the waiting list was three months minimum waiting time. I decided to see a specialist privately.I was seen within days.Best money I have ever spent. Just needed one visit.

How much did it cost to go private

Less than £200.I then saw the same consultant on the NHS at my local hospital. He will have to be referred by his GP. If you can afford it I would recommend you go for it.

I was told I had either Psoriatic Eczema or Eczematous Psoriasis 15years ago. It started as extremely itchy scaly patches on my scalp, in my ears and lower legs. But I never recognised is as guttae or plaque. In the last 5 years it has spread to my palms and the soles of my feet. I have never used biologics and I have managed without topical steroids for over 2 years. I try to eat ‘clean’, including low (but not excluding) dairy, gluten and alcohol, vit D supplements and kefir for gut health. I firmly believe that if I went back to my old diet it would have just progressed and I would be struggling. As it is I live with it quite well. My scalp is itchy but nowhere near as scaly as it was. My hands itch, but emollients and soaking my feet in Epsom salts, keep it bearable. And I do now have a 1/2 hand size recognisable plaque on one shin. I don’t know if this is a unrecognised form, but as they say, whatever the label the root cause and treatment are the same.
