Hey all,
This is my first time posting as I am at my breaking point. I am Taylor, I am 26 and I have had psoriasis for as long as I can remember. I believe I was around 12 years old when I was first diagnosed.
Initially it was very mild, a couple of patches on my scalp, but as the years have gone on it has got worse and worse. My scalp is full of thick white scales but only at the bottom/nape of my neck with a red inflamed border. Now, within the last year, it has decided to spread to the insides of my ears and on my eyelids/eyebrows.
I have been under dermatology for a long time and feel like I have been prescribed everything under the sun. Either what they prescribe only works for a little while and then stops, or it just doesnt work at all. I have had multiple shampoos, creams, foams, ointments. They have even tried me on Methotrexate which I took for 6 weeks and then had to stop as I couldn't tolerate the side effects, mainly the nausea.
I am trying my hardest to just accept that I am going to have to live with this for the rest of my life, but I just wish something made it easier. If anyone has any recommendations of something I can buy to use for my ears and eyelids, that would be great as I am currently using Silkis in my ears but that just literally softens the scales which removes them within a few hours and then they grow back again a few hours later!
Between all 3 of these areas that I get psoriasis, it is making me so self conscious. I usually wear my hair up but I no longer can because it shows the scales at the bottom of my scalp/neck and it also allows my ears to be on show which just look awful full of scales. My eyelids constantly flake it is just awful.
Please help :(

Similar story to myself, it’s an autoimmune disease so creams and such will only clear it up temporarily.
I’d encourage you to try fasting and resetting your body.
Begin with small interval fasts for 1 week, skip breakfast and lunch then eat at 5pm.
On your final day 8, fast for 24 hours, Then begin a diet of very basic red meats for 3 weeks.
I must stress before reintroducing other foods make sure you’re recording your results. You cannot afford to waste time with no results as other changes to your diet may need to be made.
Light therapy, Cryotherapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy are all great additions to clear it up.
That’s all I’ve got for you, best of luck.
One more thing I’ve heard but not yet tried is Raw goats milk applied to the area can help (take that one with a pinch of salt)

Hi,
My psoriasis has developed during the last six months and as I have tried many ways to cope with it, I have learned that maintaining a healthy and strict eating diet would help a lot.
As for external skin care, I have tried to use less and free of chemical products, I mainly use Aveeno Moisturising Lotion and these days I am putting another layer of warm extra virgin olive oil on after the lotion. The olive oil helps the scale come off easily and keep your skin moist. I have psoriasis in my ears too so I put lotion/cream and then warm olive oil.
You can take lukewarm Epsom Salt bath / Oatmeal bath + essential oil / essential bath and then gently wash off the scale, apply lotion/cream and warm olive oil. Remember if it dries out quickly, put lotion again after a couple of hours.
Sleeping early does help and make a big difference too. And as Dr.Andrew said, there is a need in changing your diet.
Please let me know if the olive oil does help you. Best of luck!
