I have a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis which is fairly well managed with biologic injections. I have had pain in my groin for over three years. I have had every scan and test there is. At the beginning I was told mild arthritic changes and an osteophyte in my hip. The groin pain is triggered by sitting upright, driving, having my legs pressed together in bed. It is a sharp pain deep in my groin on one side. I have hip stiffness, low back pain on the one side and walk with a slight limp. Walking long distance causes the groin pain. The orthopaedic consultant has told me the pain is not coming from my hip. The rheumatologist says it’s an orthopaedic issue. I am at my wits end. I have no gynaecological issues. Nerve conduction tests were negative. I don’t know what to do next. This affects my daily living every day. The only thing that ever helped was a diagnostic local anaesthetic injection into my hip joint which stopped all pain for three days. Consultant said that’s meaningless as it would have numbed the entire area. Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Does this ring any bells? After being in a car accident & I got hit at speed with my foot on the brake - I had right sided buttock pain, with groin pain & symptoms felt similar to sciatica - but it wasn't & I used to walk with a limp, I could hardly walk, I couldn't sit for long, I couldn't drive for long distances, sleeping with a pillow between my knees didn't help, I was misdiagnosed for 4 years with lower back pain & then told it was all in my head. Only when my nerve damage caused bladder/bowel issues did I finally get correctly diagnosed with pelvic nerve damage, as my muscles had packed in when I had bowel/bladder tests. So it could well be tight stiff muscles pressing on everything & what you need to do is strengthen your core (if you're a Strictly fan - you never stop hearing this!). The physio gave me exercises & as I've lived with the nerve damage for too long, I can't feel anything, so the only thing I found to help was a Sissel sitfit plus cushion (it's a cheats way to exercise as it's the equivalent of sitting on an exercise ball - but you just sit on it & it works away - as I sit on it on an office/dining chair due working from home) and it made the hugest difference, it wasn't a quick fix - as it took me 3-6 months to see the biggest difference. See reviews on Amazon, you can usually buy a cheap one on ebay first, as some don't like it. Otherwise try an exercise ball & do some exercises - but be super careful if you're accident prone - as I found it dangerous for me personally. My consultant told me I've developed a really strong core & was shocked at the improvement I'd made. Hope this helps!!
