Psoriasis in ear canal, with frequent wax build up
Posted Mon 26 Jan 2026 19.14 by Jude79
Hello, I've scalp psoriasis for about 25 years, the past 2 years it's been at it's worst. However, 2 months ago my ear felt blocked and I got it micro-suctioned. I'd never had an ear wax issue before this. 5 days later my ears were blocked again, so I went back. This pattern has repeated, and I've now had micro-suctioning 6 times, in about 7 weeks. On the 4th visit I was told to use E45 for the dry skin in my ear, which I used for a couple of weeks, and the skin in my ear doesn't feel dry now.
On the last visit I was told there was lots of dry skin built up in my ear, as well as wax. I was told to get 1% hydrocortisone cream from the pharmacy and use twice a day. I've been doing this for a week now, but my ear's blocked again. I have an appt with my GP on Friday. I think the psoriasis must be in my ear canal. Has anyone used drops or a spray that has helped clear this? The muffled hearing is driving me mad, and I can't keep having micro-suctioning. I'd really appreciate help to make sure I get the best treatment for this.
Thanks for reading, and best wishes to everyone.

Hi Jude79,
We're so sorry to hear that you've been struggling with psoriasis in your ear canal.
I just wanted to respond to let you know that yes, you can get steroid drops/sprays for psoriasis in the ear. Your GP would be able to prescribe these.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for any further support.
Best wishes,
Georgia
