Contraception for Methotrexate

Hi, I’ve just been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis and been told I need to start Methotrexate. I got diagnosed privately by accident when I was being seen for another medical issue and I’m now waiting to be transferred back to NHS care. My understanding is that as part of the checks before you go on Methotrexate as a woman of child bearing age you have to be on contraception. I’m currently not on any and just wanted to know if there’s a preference that Rheumatologist’s have for the contraception you take, as I know some options like the pill have higher risks of pregnancy if you forget to take it. Does anyone know? Thanks
