Dovonex help! Can anyone recommend a shampoo that actually washes Dovonex out of your hair?? I have a complete nightmare with it as the Capasal or Alphosyl both make it like glue and it leaves my hair greasy for days. I've washed it 9 times and it stays the same. Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks.

I was diagnosed about 7 years ago, developed Psoriasis in my late 30's.

Hello, I'm new to this site , so I'm sorry if this is nit right!! I've recently started using dovonex to treat my scalp psoriasis and also found it left my hair greasy. i have found putting some shampoo ( I use Johnsons baby shampoo) directly on my dry hair before I start washing it, then put water on hair, then wash using my T gel , stops it from being greasy. Hope this is of help :-)

Hallo was interested in hearing about Sebco. Never tried that one. I have had psoriasis since I was 6 years old now 73. Since about 1965 I have been relatively clear apart from the odd stubborn patch. I find treating my scalp to be the most difficult. At present I use Calcipotriol Scalp Solution and for the stubbon crusty patches Calcipotriol Dovobet gel, the latter of which is greasy. I also use Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo which is really good. All these are on repeat prescription. These treatments are OK it is difficult to do them daily if one has any life at all. Who wants to go shopping with greasy unstyled hair. So I was interested Sebco because it seems it doesn't have to be put in daily. Await comments.

I have been suffering from the condition for almost 7 years. I had all sorts from scalp to face, to my whole torso and legs. I have now mana

Hi Emily, You should go to your GP and get the Dovobet in gel, which is so good for clearing scalp p. My GP prescribed it but apparently it is expensive, so they would not give you the whole box. Only a small bottle of 15/30ml, some pharmacies do not stock, but the last time I brought it back from Boots, so it should be readily available. Try it and see.

Plaque in creases and scalp etc. Occasionally bad between legs.

Andy’s Tips on the Control of Psoriasis: Use tubs of emollients to wash with on a damp white flannel: Hydrating Cream, Olive Oil Cream, and Coconut Cream from 99p shop or Poundland. Don’t rub too hard with the towel! Avoid products with colorants or perfumes. Use emollients daily. Prick Vitamin E capsules and rub that in. Try wheat germ oil and rub that in. Try water infusion of organic porridge oats and chickweed to wash with: place in organic muslin bag from Baldwin’s Herbalist London or Neal’s Yard Brighton or London. Avoid bleached products with dioxin residues. Avoid scratching picking and shaving. Expose skin to sunlight. Try Silkis 3 micrograms/g ointment 100g tube. A synthetic vitamin D in greasy base? Try very thin Trimovate application on affected area only. Or, try one very thin Dobovets application on affected area only (it may be to strong a treatment). The paraffin-based gel sorted out the raised patches on my scalp for a while, with just one treatment! The paraffin-based gel must not be used on skin creases, the cream may be. Eumovate may be to strong a treatment that sheds too much skin and thins it too. Wear loose fitting clothes: boxer shorts, thin mountain trousers etc. Wear natural fibres if possible. Avoid synthetic bedding. Avoid underarm deodorant chemicals. Use Johnson’s Baby shampoo. Use Dove Extra Sensitive Soap from 99p shop or Poundland. Use Pure Soap. Only use Non Bio Washing Powder. Use Waitrose Blue PVC? Sensitive Skin Gloves. Record what causes outbreaks. Find ways to reduce stress and worry: Music, yoga, pottery etc. Schisandra berry might help to resist fatigue and stress. Does reducing alcohol intake help? Kelp extract (high in iron) helps hair re-grow. Also stinging nettle. Perhaps coal tar scalp treatments may be carcinogenic? Blue Roman Chamomile essential oil sometimes works on Eczema: 3 drops in 10ml of almond oil. Plantain! An infusion of 1 teaspoon of Californian Poppy ‘Escholtzia californica’ at night helps as a zinc supplement. Also try Great Burdock. Organic carrots help skin diseases. Ask to be referred to a Dermatologist. Get specialist Phototherapy UV B light treatment? Dovonex Cream (Dovonex 50micrograms/g cream) might be nicer than greasy products?

I've got Psoriasis on my legs, but only below the knees. I also have some in the hairline of my forehead. And on the inside of my right hand

I've lived in the Netherlands for 40 odd years, and the doctor there gave me Daivonex. This is a fluid of Calpitriol, which after a while did the trick. Together with use of T/gel there is a significant improvement. Rinsing the T/gel shampoo out with colder water does help to get the "heat" out of the Psoriasis. I can understand that in particular women can do without time consuming treatments. But I'm afraid this infliction does need some care and attention. I tell myself to choose between the incredible itching of Psoriasis or soothing it by some TLC!

Yes....... I use hydromol. I leave in over night. Nightmare to wash out. I then use various topical steroids to keep things at bay. Inside two days I'm back to square one. Wished there was a treatment I could find that actually works. X

Have had psoriasis for 53 years. It flares up in or after times of stress. Lesions bad in scalp, backs of legs and elbows. For no apparent r

Have been using Alphosyl shampoo for the last 30 years (then it came in a tube, and was like brown toothpaste - but it worked!) I buy mine over the counter at pharmacies or online, but I don't find it as effective as it was (it suffers from being "new & improved") & my scalp is bad at the mo. Thought I might give the Lush stuff a try, but someone suggested it may be discontinued, would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations!

I recommend ointment that has :- Clobetasol propionate. Salicylic acid.  Methyl paraben. Propyl paraben. Ointment base.  In 4 or 5 day you'll be fine. Ok thanks

I have been affected since i was 11 and it's been 6 years. Doctors believe it was due to heredity factor.

Hello everyone. I was just wondering if someone could just give any idea (anything at all) that helps in reducing psoriasis. Im 17 and im from malaysia, its extremely depressing because having this disease on my entire body and scalp is humiliating since im still in highschool and we all know how highschool is like. People often point out how flaky my skin is and always going all disgusted because they see my scalp and think i have dandruffs when really its just my psoriasis. Ive tried the UV light treatment and applied creams and such. But none ever seem to work very well. Is diet important? And well im currently sitting for my SPM which is a big exam here in Malaysia (probably something like IGSCE or -A-levels) so ive been pretty stressful. This affects my life A LOT because im a girl and the fact that im a teenager makes it worse. Im constantly depressed because of this and i honestly just dont have anyone to talk to because nobody understands how its like to have to wear clothes you dont like to cover up your skin to avoid being picked on and all. Im just really rrally derperate for help and i hope i can get it here :/

Hi i use dead sea mineral shampoo which can be found in holland and barret shops. I have used most of the range from them as it really helps to live a more normal life also it means i dont waste any time sitting round doing treatments. Then i treat my hair once a week sometimes once a month to johnsons baby shampoo as regular shampoo is to harsh for my scalp.

The best answer to psoriasis on the scalp was proved by a dermatologist I saw last year. It involves my wife rubbing Dermol 600 into my scalp to soften the plaques. After an hour she uses a metal nit comb to scrape them off. Once the scalp is free of the plaques the special shampoos, such as Alphosyll, TGel, etc, van get to the skin. I treat the margins of the hairline with Dovobet Gel and it is quite effective.

I have it and my daughter has it too

Hi. My psoriasis isn't too bad at the mo but sadly my daughter has inherited it. At first her scalp was thick with scale and I tried all medicated shampoos, greasy creams etc. finally found something that keeps it under control. Head and shoulders dry scalp conditioner massaged into wet hair in bath. Leave as long as poss - usually 10 to 15 mins. Remove scale with nit comb while conditioner still in. Rinse out and dry normally. Treat red areas with diprosalic lotion daily for a week then every other day then twice a week then once a week as it clears. I ovule be interested to hear if this works for anyone else - worth a try! Something I found used to work for me was rubbing dove soap into scalp, leaving again for as long as poss then rinsing and shampooing and conditioning as normal. Again worth a try!

Since 2010, scalp psoriasis and nail psoriasis.

Was given a few things by several dermatologists in the USA and in the UK over the last 3/4 years. A few months ago I was given Calcipotriol 50 micrograms/ml for the scalp, but did not work either. Lately, a GP gave me Dovobet gel, it's Calcipotriol + betamethasone: was told to do twice a day for 2 weeks, then once a day for 2 weeks, then once every other day. Actually I did twice a day for 4 days, and it already worked very well so I moved to once a day for 10 days, and now just moving to once every other day. Works well for me: redness is gone, flakes are gone too. Issue left is for my nails...

I developed guttate psoriasis three years ago which started in my hair. I think my experience may be of help. I used Dovobet gell for many

Hi, I'm a new member so apologies if you have tried this with no success however I have used dovobet gell for a couple of years on my scalp but the plaques always came back worse and hair fell out. I decided to give up steroids and try straight coconut oil, I rubbed a lot in and left overnight. I did this twice a week for several months. My scalp has been clear for a few months now. Worth a try and leaves hair lovely.

On my head since a child mostly as dandruff (bad) over the years Has got a lot worse last couple of years (large flakes) since not being abl

I have suffered scalp psoriasis for seventy years mostly heavy dandruff in earlier years and have used Polytar shampoo for years.Suddenly not on the shelves any more. I used various other shampoos to no avail and began to get very large flakes on my scalp. It seemed to me to be much like cradle cap in children so I started to use cradle cap cream and shampoo. This for me keeps the condition under control touch wood!! I hope this is helpfull.

Hi EmilyB, I suffer with psoriasis on my scalp too and have tried most scalp treatments out there. My hairdresser suggested I try 'big' shampoo from lush cosmetics. I can honestly say it has helped a lot! It's a sea salt shampoo and after the first couple washes I could notice a different! Hope this helps xx

I suffered from psoriasis too, but I was cured now. It was bad, and makes me very unhappy. I live in China. Here we use Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat skin problems, I went to many hospitals like this and tried many different treatments, but the effect is not very good until I went to a hospital in the North of China. It works, and now I am a happy person again, I am glad to share this with you, you may not able to go there, but you can talk to their doctors for advice. you can find more information on the website of vitiligotcm.
