Hi team I’ve just started using Cosentyx. Had my 4th injection last Thursday. Just wondering what others think of the treatment. I have cleared in places however have got some new spots that are worse than what I’ve ever had. I also suffer from genital psoriasis and that area has also got worse since starting. I’m in so much pain with the spots drying that I can barely walk. Thanks to anyone who responds

Hi Natalieeg, Not sure if this is going to help but I was due to start secukinumab but due to having Crohn’s disease I was told this was not an option so I have been put on a newer drug called Ustekinumab(stelara). I had psoriasis all over my body even on my face and palmoplantar pustula psoriasis on my palms and soles of my feet which was so bad that I couldn’t walk or leave the house for 2 months earlier this year. I have so far had 2 injections of ustekinumab and the results are absolutely fantastic. The psoriasis all over my body has gone, I have a small patch still on one palm and my feet are still flaky but I no longer get pustules or cracks. I can not tell you how much of a difference this drug has made. I have also had no side affects to speak of a part from a day or two after injecting I have a runny nose which is a very small price to pay. Please investigate this drug. I can not thank my consultant enough for finding this drug to treat me. Kind regards Jo

Hi Jo Thank you so much for replying. I had a catch up with my specialist today and I’ve now stopped Cosentyx. It was just drying out my spots which was causing me so much pain...stinging pain. It also made my genital area worse. I’m off everything for two weeks then he mentioned starting Stelara. How often do you inject yourself? Thanks again Natalie

Hi Natalie, After the loading dose it is only 4 injections a year every 12 weeks. I can not tell you how quick it’s worked. I had it in my groin too which is so painful and that cleared up with the first injection. Let me know how you get on with it when you start. Good luck I feel very positive and hopeful that it will work for you too. It’s also good that the side effects are so minimal or non existent compared to some of the other biologics. I can not rave enough about how good it is for plaque psoriasis and PPP. Take care Jo

currently suffering with a bad flare up,have psoriasis everywhere except my face and neck

Hi I've been taking cosentyx since Aug 2018 and it's worked brilliantly for my psoriasis my skin is all clear. Last month I developed a problem with my oesophegus ( don't know if it's linked to the cosentyx) any body had any thing like this? Very hard to swallow even water? Dr given me some tablets that have worked a bit but not solved it. No one can really tell me if it's a side effect or just coincidence? Started the day after my last injections, due to inject tomorrow again thanks
