Are red patches/flakiness permanent?

Hello, I have suffered from psoriasis for many years now and dispite using prescription and over-the-counter creams, there has been a decrease in itchiness, but the red patches and flakiness still remains. So I use creams to hydrate but the actual patches do not disappear. I am unsure if this is just a permanent thing. I have tried my GP many times but for some reason can not get transferred to a dermatologist, which may be just due to current situation with covid. I was wondering if anyone have managed to clear their skin of red patches and could recommendation and creams, or if I would need to pursue specialist treatment? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hello Annastesia I could be a permanent thing for you, some people say it is. Mine cleared up naturally over time Maybe try applying a combination of skin healing oils, things like : Rosehip, Carrot Seed, Calendula, Vitamin E, Bergamot and Lavender. Apply every day, and give it time Buy them from the healthy food store, and mix them yourself. You will have to play around with the ratios, until you find a mix that suits you. Alternatively, just buy one oil, and try that as a standalone. I no longer use pharmaceuticals, so cannot recommend anything there. Or maybe some ultraviolet light therapy will help

Sounds like creams are not working. Very common to get "rebound" of redness and flakes, after rubbing in a cream. Try UVB (light) therapy, as a next step. See a doc, etc.

The main problem with UVB therapy is the long waiting list on the NHS. I have been told could be possibly 39 weeks ☹️
