How many light treatments do you require before seeing an improvement

I won the lottery of 4 diseases and a slipped disk in one month. I'm always told that's the most extreme case I've seen. But chins Up!

Depends on how bad it is. My experience was that the start off with a low dose to get your body used to it and then increases with time. There is a max amount of sessions you can have for your own safety. Is this on the NHS?

Yes on NHS

I bit the bullet and bought a canopy after waiting over a year for NHS therapy. Two weeks in following the guide lines and my forearms are looking smoother. Happy to report back as I go along. Sandie

Thank you. Yes please. I have an appointment with hospital but as going on holiday a couple of weeks later not sure if they will give it to me.

Hi Paddy - update as promised. I have a 9 tube canopy used upright. I started on 5th March with 30 seconds each side. (it’s the outside of my limbs that are mostly affected). With no redness or tingling I was at 4 minutes after 6 sessions and 12 sessions on I can hardly believe the improvement. My skin is smooth for the first time in years and almost healed on my elbows and there’s huge improvement on my thighs. I didn’t use the Enstilar or Exorex to properly trial the canopy. Just used DoubleBase after each session. It was a considered purchase but worth giving up sunshine holidays that only gave relief for a couple of weeks once home. Hope this helps. Sandie

Thanks. Are you still allowed to go in the sunshine

Yes, but with caution in case of burning while having the sessions. After that just as normal I think. Good luck Sandie

Hi Sandie -what make is your canopy ? So glad it’s working for you..

Hi Gail - it has been a huge success. I chose the MBS nine tube canopy which I use upright - as opposed to over the bed because most of my issues are on the sides of my body. The company loan the canopy’s too. Hope this helps. Sandie

Hi Sandie, I came across your post and am really interested in the therapy. Would you be comfortable sharing what type of psoriasis you have? I have a mixture of guttate (on hands, feet, legs, lower back) and plaque (on elbows and knees) and was wondering whether this light therapy would be effective on all types or just a particular type of psoriasis? And please can you let me know which company you purchased the light from - perhaps a link? Thank you

Hi I replied to Krupago but it’s not here! I bought my canopy from MBS for my plaque psoriasis. Started using on 5th March and am totally clear today. If only everyone could be this lucky.

Hi Sandie, thanks for replying, I noticed that one of your replies disappeared too! Thanks so much for sharing this information, I think I will contact MBS just to make sure it's the right thing for me. I experimented with various creams and have found that using the Inkey list oatmeal balm cleanser as a moisturiser on my psoriasis patches has really helped calm them down and I mix that with La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume.

My dermatologist told me never to use anything but DoubleBase for washing and moisturing. No perfumed products on my skin EVER. I’ve stuck to that religiously and it may have helped. Another unexpected upside of the phototherapy is the psoriasis on my scalp at the back of my head has gone - no Enstilar used since March. I have very short at the back so light must have penetrated!
