Cyclosporine

Hi All, I recently (6 weeks ago) came off of cyclosporine for plaque psoriasis after 9 months (it hadnt worked) 2 weeks ago I had an outbreak of guttate psoriasis and I am covered! This was following a cold! My understanding is that guttate psoriasis can be triggered in this way and should go on it's own but I can't get an appointment until the end of June with my dermatologist. Has anyone had something similar? Thanks Karen x

Hi Karen, I also suffer from plaque psoriasis and had an outbreak of guttate psoriasis following a cold Virus infection. Especially respiratory Virus can trigger guttate psoriasis flare ups. Honestly it doesn't go on its own. I also had a flare up of my plaque psoriasis on the existing as well as new lesions. I have had it since March and its been more than 8 weeks and it hasn't gone. Apart from the outbreak , I also suffered from severe burning sensations and itchiness to a point where I use to cry from the burning sensations. I use to apply cold patches to cool down the burning and itchiness. Also Enstilar foam has helped me cool down the flare up. I use it at least once a week or at times two . It works better than cyclosporine. you can also apply a mixture of coconut and neem oil to soften the skin and help with itch. If you need an earlier appointment with your dermatologist you need to go back to GP and ask them to email an expedite letter to the dermatology department. I got done mine from my GP, but the earliest one I got was after 8 weeks which is also just 4 weeks earlier earlier than my scheduled appointment. I am on cyclosporine, but I have sensitive stomach hence cant take more than 1 tablet a day, so its of no use to me. Most part of my front, back and legs are covered in patches, hence I am seriously considering Biologics, and will speak to the dermatologist about starting them on my next appointment. Hope this helps. Thanks Prriti A Narkar
