I've been on Humira for about 5 years and consider it to be a 'Wonder Drug'!! I've had psoriasis since I was 14 and psoriatic arthritis since my early twenties (I'm 34 now). Yes, injecting yourself isn't pleasant but it really doesn't hurt and it's over in the blink of an eye! As far as side effects go, I have been very fortunate (knock wood!) and haven't had any. I have my blood checked every 6 months by my dermatologist and rhuematologist to monitor closely. So far everything is fine! I choose not to worry about side effects such as lymphoma/cancer etc. as the are 'potential' side effects. ALL drugs come with a laundry list of side effects, you just can't worry about them. My life was transformed! I went from hiding behind long sleeves and trousers in the middle of summer (in the States no less!), shying away from ever having a boyfriend, never getting my hair cut, popping pain killers everyday, hobbling around with painful joints etc. etc to clear skin and no joint pain!! I'm married now with two wee kids and most importantly, I'm happy!! I wish everyone could have the success I've experienced but if Humira isn't for you then don't give up. There are many different biologic drugs on the market and hopefully many more to come! Stay positive and try not to worry! Best wishes!
