Does anyone here have experience of metarsalgia and/or plantar fasciitis
If so what treatments/exercises have given you most relief.
I am experiencing all of the pain in the ball of my foot, base of the 2nd and third toes.
Thank you
Clare

Hi Clare, I have been suffering from a similar problem for the last 8 years (. I am 52 and very active) First it started in my left foot and now I have inflammation in my right. I have seen various specialists and doctors and still waiting for answers suspecting it might be signs of PsA. From my experience none of the exercises I have been given helps when I go through a flare. The pain and swelling in an effected toe and the ball of my foot is so bad that it is impossible to do anything. I have had 3 steroid injections in 3 different areas of my feet since it all started, nothing else unfortunately helps. When not in flare I flex my toes, do stretching exercises for my legs, take hot baths with salts and continue being active. A strict anti inflammatory diet with supplements helps too. I do not take any other medication.

Hi Claire, I really suffer from pain in the ball of my foot. I was only diagnosed earlier this year and have been on Methotrexate injections since March. I’m now on the highest dose and recently started on adalimumab biological injections.
Unfortunately I have had urine infections in and off for the past month or so so haven’t been able to take my medication.
I am really hopeful that my feet will improve with this medication. I also really suffer from pain in the heel of my hand. This affects everything I do from typing on my phone, trying to type for work, using knives and holding the steering wheel…
I also have fibromyalgia, Erythromelalgia, RLS and Osteoarthritis, so am on a lovely selection of meds. I’m allergic to nsaids and codiene, so I am limited as to what I can take. I try to follow a low histamine and FODMAP diet for IBS on top of everything else!!
I hope you find some help and relief as you research more.
Gentle hugs 🫂 x
