Derma UK has provided the below statement regarding Ceanel shampoo:

Derma UK is pleased to report that we are now preparing to submit Ceanel Concentrate medicated shampoo to the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) for them to assess and approve its return to market.

When we last updated you, Ceanel’s stability trials were part-way through (the part where we gather analytical data to support our MHRA submission). With sufficient data now generated, our regulatory experts are working hard to produce the extensive and time-intensive submission to the MHRA.

Reviving and re-developing such a heritage product as Ceanel has been a complicated process. This has been crucial so that it is able to meet today’s pharmaceutical quality and safety standards and return to market.

We still anticipate a submission to the MHRA in summer 2025. Please be advised that from this point onwards, timescales are dictated by the MHRA, but Derma UK is optimistic that Ceanel will be released and available to patients this year.

Derma UK will continue to provide proactive project updates via the Psoriasis Association as and when we have more information to share.

We recommend individuals affected by the unavailability of Ceanel Concentrate medicated shampoo consult their GP or Pharmacist to explore suitable alternatives.
