Good Quality Information

The Psoriasis Association is committed to producing good quality information. However, it is important to remember that none of the information on this website, or accessed via our helpline, is a replacement for advice from a qualified health professional.

Two of the aims of the Psoriasis Association are to support people who have psoriasis, and to raise awareness about the condition. Providing information resources helps to fulfill both these aims, through giving both the patients and other people affected by their condition reliable knowledge of psoriasis.

The Psoriasis Association is committed to providing good quality information about all areas of psoriasis, for anyone who needs it. In order for the Association to ensure the information is of the highest quality, we have committed to adopting The Information Standard for health and social care information in England.

The Psoriasis Association fully accepts the aims of The Information Standard, and will use the scheme to maintain and improve the information production system. All information produced by the Psoriasis Association that is relevant and in scope will be governed by the Information Standard guidelines.

In order to comply with the requirements of the scheme, the Psoriasis Association shall ensure that our information is:

  • Accurate, sourced from reliable materials, and checked by impartial experts.
  • Well written, fully accessible to all users and relevant to user needs.
  • Regularly reviewed and updated by trained staff as necessary, taking into account user feedback and any developments in the field.

Records of all processes shall be produced to acknowledge the Association’s acceptance of the Standard and document our actions. The Association is also committed to ensuring that all members of staff are aware of the Information Standard and how this relates to our information production systems, and will keep records to document training received. The Psoriasis Association intends to achieve The Information Standard in each of the information areas; our range of leaflets, information sheets, and our website. Electronic information such as that on CD ROM will also be under the scope of the Standard. Work is ongoing to ensure all existing resources meet the criteria for the Information Standard; only those resources featuring the Information Standard logo have been through this process and are certified as meeting the Standard.

Please click here for further information on the Information Standard, and do not hesitate to get in touch with us for more information on how we comply, or for a list of resources used in the compilation of our information.

The Psoriasis Association shall hold responsibility for the information they publish, and neither the Information Standard scheme operator nor the scheme owner shall have any responsibility whatsoever for costs, losses or direct or indirect damages or costs arising from inaccuracy of information or omissions in information published on the website on behalf of the Psoriasis Association.

Please note that user-generated content, such as Facebook and Twitter streams, and the content of the forums, is not in scope of The Information Standard. Any statements made within these areas are to be attributed to the individual concerned, are not necessarily approved by the Psoriasis Association and may not be factually correct.

No information on the Psoriasis Association website is intended to replace that of a healthcare professional, and a qualified medical opinion should always be sought if patients have any questions or concerns about their condition, treatment or care.
