Hi everyone,
I’m Luke, 38, and recently joined this forum as I’m looking for some support and to connect with others who really understand what living with psoriasis is like.
I’ve had psoriasis for a while now i had it in my late teens and it stayed away until I was around 32, but it’s been affecting me more recently — not just my skin but also other areas of my health. My main issues are:
Psoriasis flares on my scalp, ears, elbows, knees, back of hands, also on my lower legs.
Dry eyes that I’ve been told are linked to psoriasis.
A cyst that got infected, which the doctor said it was connected to psoriasis as it wasn't healing after treatment.
Poor sleep and snoring, which I feel makes my psoriasis and energy levels worse.
Weight struggles (I’m about 16 stone at 5’7”), which I know doesn’t help psoriasis or sleep but my body aches which is making it hard to get energy to exercise, I'm not a big eater of healthy foods as such as I struggle with some textures. My stomach constantly grumbles and I tend to feel bloated.
I’m trying to learn more about the links between psoriasis and other health problems, and how to make positive changes. Right now, I’d really like to hear from others who have similar experiences — how do you manage your symptoms day to day, and has anyone else noticed issues with sleep, eyes, or weight connected to psoriasis?
I'm not currently on any treatment as I'm finding nothing is helping, However I have tried many creams and thinners. I remember when i was in my late teens I had some coal tar cream/ointment which worked wonders but not really found anything that works as well.
Thanks in advance for any advice or encouragement — it’ll mean a lot to hear from people going through the same thing.
Luke
