Eleven years ago I returned from holiday with a sore between my toes from wearing flip flops. It didn’t heal and after trying various creams and ointments it just got worse and eventually I was diagnosed with pustular psoriasis. It spread over the entire sole of my right foot and for six years I was practically housebound as walking was extremely painful. I saw various dermatologists and had loads of different treatments and nothing worked. On a visit to my GP I saw a locum GP who said have you ever tried steroids. I hadn’t and he prescribed a 2 week course which saw a vast improvement. I went back and he prescribed a low dose steroid and over a period of about 3 months the pustular psoriasis completely disappeared. I came off the steroid treatment and haven’t had any further problems since. I few months ago the tell tale itch started on the sole of my foot and then a couple of pustules appeared. I got a prescription for some steroid cream but it hasn’t done anything, in fact it is now almost completely covering my foot. I tried to think what could have caused this breakout and the only difference I can think of is a couple of months ago I was prescribed Atrovastatin. I googled for any connection and saw that it can affect psoriasis and make it worse. I going to GP next week to discuss but wondered if anyone else has had a reaction like this.
