ACT It Out’s tagline is ‘Looking different, living well’ because it is designed to help people who have appearance concerns connect to what they want from life, and move towards these things while managing psychological and social challenges that have stood in the way. The app is based on an evidence-based psychological approach called Acceptance and Commitment therapy, known as ACT.

The app has 6 short sessions, done in sequence, that include different exercises and skill-building activities. It is a fully self-guided app, so is most suitable for those who are motivated to work through it themselves. It may also be used in conjunction with ongoing specialist psychological support.
