Hello… my name’s Benjamin (27), some people may remember me from where I previously ran a psoriasis support page (benjaminpsoriasis).

I shared my story a few years back, at which point I was starting UVB treatment twice a week… unfortunately it didn’t end how I wanted and my skin had a massive flare up as soon as I finished the course. The dermatologist prescribed oral medication (Acitretin) which I decided not to take. I also didn’t want to go back onto steroid creams as I had used these for a number of years.

Fast forward a couple of years of being steroid free and I’m in a really good place as far as managing my psoriasis and the way I cope with it. I still use a dab of Vitamin D based prescription ointment when my psoriasis is partially sore (Dovonex) and manage the rest of the time in a number of ways including Dead Sea Salt scrubs in the shower and a good daily moisturiser!

Mentally I feel I cope a lot better these days since I connected with individuals who also suffer with psoriasis. Also more recently myself and my wife got a miniature dachshund who takes up so much of our time, I hardly have the time to worry about anything else… definitely a good counter-worry haha!!!
